Due to the new guidelines implemented in light of COVID, the Wine Forum of Oklahoma’s Executive committee has decided to hold a Virtual Wine Forum this year. Every decision we have made was with our guests’ health and safety in mind. We cannot wait to share this experience with you in the comfort of your own home! Since we are looking to virtually stream our seminars this year, we are no longer restricted to a two day event. 2020 has been an interesting year for everyone so we thought we would take the opportunity to do things differently. We hope that our changes to this event will allow us to break out of Oklahoma and share with you the wine regions of the world in a way we have not been able to before.
We plan to live stream most seminars so that guests can interact with the speaker during the seminar. In the event we have a speaker from a different country it will be prerecorded and uploaded.
We are working on nailing down the details. We are looking to have 4-5 seminars for our attendees to enjoy. We plan to space out the seminars over April so that you can enjoy our event at your own leisure. We all have busy schedules and wanted everyone to be able to partake in our event.
While we would love to have you attend while we are first streaming the session, we understand everyone has busy schedules. Thanks to our seminars being virtual this year, you will be able to go back and view the seminars whenever you get the chance.
If you purchase a ticket, you will receive an exclusive Wine Forum package in the mail. We are so excited to announce we will be producing the first ever Wine Forum of Oklahoma Cookbook for our guests which will be included in the package. This book will be a compilation of wine pairings and home cook friendly recipes from industry professionals. We are hopeful that we can get videos of the chefs making the recipes which will be uploaded for you to watch at your leisure.
At this moment we are working with the ABLE Commission to find ways to provide wine for you. In the event that we cannot provide the wine due to Oklahoma’s law’s and reevaluations we plan on providing our attendees lists of the wines and possible substitutes. You do not have to purchase wine to partake in this event but many if not all of our seminars will revolve around wine tasting.
Because of the strict mask mandates and social distancing guidelines that OSU has implemented in light of COVID-19, we unfortunately will be unable to have the Saturday Grand Tasting this year as there is no way we could host it in a safe and responsible manner.
As of now, we are still holding onto the hope that there may be a possibility of hosting a smaller, socially-distanced version of the Friday Gala Dinner if the university and local health authorities will permit us to do so come April. A final decision will be made in early 2021. We will keep you posted.
In the event that we are able to have an in person event OSU and the Wine Forum Committee will be strictly enforcing a mandatory mask policy and will implement other safety protocols in accordance with Oklahoma State University campus regulations and the City of Stillwater mask ordinance. Patrons will be asked to wear masks unless you are sitting or actively eating and drinking. Anyone not wearing a mask will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund. We will also plan on taking temperatures before attendees check into our event. Pre-assigned seating will follow restaurant guidelines and will encourage social distancing. Since wine will be served at all events, people under the age of 21 will not be allowed to enter. All attendees will be required to show identification upon registration at the door.
Ticket sales will begin November 2020.
Thanks to our seminars being virtual this year, you will be able to partake in every seminar we hold this year!
Please send all dietary needs to wfok@okstate.edu and we will accommodate your request if possible.
